🥜What's in a Peanut Butter Cookie
Basic ingredients usually go something like this:
🔆How to Make Peanut Butter Cookies
The Wet ingredients & sugars:
- In a large bowl, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, butter, vanilla extract, and egg with a hand or stand mixer on medium speed.
Dry Ingredients
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and baking powder into wet ingredients until dough forms. Don't overwork the dough. Chill dough for 20 minutes.
- Note: The dough is extremely soft due to the creamy peanut butter, eggs, and butter and if it's not cold going into the oven, the cookies will spread all over your baking sheet.
Dough
- Scoop dough with a cookie scoop or tablespoon. Shape dough into 1-inch or 2-inch (larger cookie) balls; roll the cookie ball in additional granulated sugar
- On ungreased or parchment-lined cookie sheets, place cookie balls about 2 inches apart. Use a fork to hashtag cookies.
- Optional: Peanut Butter cookies can be made without the hashtag fork marks.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet, they need to be set up before being transferred to the cookie rack

🔆Storing cookies:
- Baked cookies: Store extra cookies in an air-tight container for up to a week
- Freezing cookie dough: Store dough in an airtight container or storage freezer bag for up to 3 months.
🔆Add-Ins:
- Love Cinnamon, add 1/4 tsp to dry ingredients.
- Loves peanuts, add 1/4 cup of chopped peanuts to wet ingredients
- Add Peanut butter chips to wet ingredients for chunky cookies.
🗈 Notes:
- Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat instead of cooking spray so the bottoms don’t brown too much before the cookies are fully baked.
- Mix dough only until ingredients are combined. Over-mixing can result in tough dough.
- If you like your cookies crunchy, add a couple of minutes to the bake time for a crispier texture.
