What's the difference between American scones and British scones?
American scones are typically dense and triangular, while British scones are tall and circular. American scones use much more butter than British scones, and they usually have quite a bit more sugar.

Ingredients in Spiced Glazed Pumpkin Scones

All-purpose Flour - Tip: Before measuring give the flour a good stir with a spoon or whisk. The flour settles in storage, so it needs to be loosened.

Dark brown sugar - I use dark brown sugar, but light brown sugar can also be used.
Baking powder and Baking soda - Both baking powder and baking soda are chemical leavening agents that cause batters to rise when baked

Real Butter - Cold, unsalted, and cut into cubes
Canned Pumpkin -  Pumpkin puree is the same thing as canned. Homemade pumpkin puree can be used also for this recipe.
Milk - Whole milk is what I use, but 2 % or skim can be substituted for whole milk.
Egg - Large
Vanilla Extract
Salt and Pumpkin Pie Spice

Spiced Glaze Pumpkin Scones

How to make Pumpkin Scones  

Start with the dry ingredients, flour, dark brown sugar ( you can use light brown) baking soda and powder, salt, and pumpkin pie spice.  Place in a bowl, and blend all together.

Add cold butter cubes to dry ingredients, and using your fingers or a pastry blender, work into dry ingredients until a coarse crumb texture. Set aside.

Spiced Glaze Pumpkin Scones

Whisk pumpkin, milk, egg, and vanilla until well blended. Pour mixture over dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.

Working on a lightly floured surface, knead the dough a couple of times until it comes together. Roll out the dough into a 10-inch circle, about 1-inch thick. Using a large knife or a pizza cutter, cut the circle like a pizza wedge, making 8 triangles

Place wedges on a prepared baking sheet, and bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.

Spiced Glaze Pumpkin Scones

🔆Glaze scones with spiced or regular glaze and let sit for 15 minutes, grab some coffee or tea, and enjoy! 

🔆Freshly baked scones will keep well for about 1 week in the fridge when properly stored.

Nuts - Chopped pecans, or walnuts can be added to batter (1/2 c)

Raisins - Add raisins to the batter, ( 1/2 c)

Topping - Cream Cheese Frosting, powdered sugar
